Reports state Toyota is working on an electric powered by solid-state batteries. The new batteries will significantly increase driving range, and reduce charging time to just a few minutes. The [highlight style=”alt”]target for sales[/highlight] is 2022.

Royal Dutch Shell PLC may be profitable, but the company has cut costs and has a mind-set that [highlight style=”alt”]oil prices would remain “lower forever”[/highlight]. Previously the thought was that the pricing would be “lower for longer” after the market crash, but that thought has changed. The oil-supply glut and shifting away from petroleum, think of France and Britain banning gasoline and diesel vehicle sales, is changing the market sooner than later.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee is scheduled to [highlight style=”alt”]vote on legislation accelerating the testing and deployment of self-driving vehicles[/highlight]. Per the [highlight style=”alt”]background memo[/highlight], some of the topics include requiring submission of safety assessment certifications by manufacturers of highly automated vehicles (HAVs), requiring NHTSA to publish a rulemaking and safety priority plan for HAVs, requiring manufacturers to develop a written cybersecurity plan and a process for controlling access to automated driving systems.

 

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) [highlight style=”alt”]has launched Clean Fuel Rebate program for customers who fill up at[/highlight] PG&E-owned CNG stations in Northern and Central California. The rebate is an annual credit beginning in 2017 and is expected to run through 2020 and is automatically credited to the customer’s account based on the consumption of fuel at PG&E stations. Customers must have an have an [highlight style=”alt”]active account on the G-NGV2 rate schedule[/highlight].
